A well written personal story of moving from being a member in a culture where the answers to all the questions were given to you within the comfortable bubble of faith to the more uncertain bigger world where the answers are not so readily available and must be earned through critical thinking.
He is the creator and host of The Thinking Atheistand the author of the self-published books Deconverted and Sacred Cows. It was all so new to him; he had never experienced such blatant impertinence toward the very thing that for his entire life had been so revered, not only by him and his family, but also by his entire community.
His book tells his readers where his quest for the truth took him. As an ex JW I loved reading this book as the reasoning often followed my own journey and I could self relate. Ddconverted God Delusion is not geared toward converting those strongly attached to their faith, but it certainly reminds those questioning that they are not alone. Both believers and atheists read these books, which can be seen on the Amazon reviews. Seth doesn’t include very many personal details, in fact he doesn’t even mention when, or that, he’d been married until he speaks about being on the verge of divorce.
This is an Oklahoma-born guy who was raised by bible scholars, went to Christian schools, and ended up in Christian radio. They were so insistent, showing up on my doorstep every week – ignoring my claims of being a baptist – and finally demanding I take a stand.

Yet they were somehow able to take personal and public responsibility for a hard-wired sin nature, implored to pledge allegiance to an invisible overlord they could not see, and charged to prevent their own torture in a nasty, horrible place that the Vacation Bible School teachers called Hell. I am astonished at what Seth accomplished. The best chapters give us an insider’s view of the business of selling Christianity, through Seth’s experiences as a Christian radio broadcaster.
I cannot help but admire anyone who makes such a leap My goodreads profile is public though. Very easy-to-read, clearly expressed story from someone whose story I feel I could have written myself. The part I really wanted to hear more about was what triggered his conversion; why would he change his mind when none of his coworkers or family or friends were similarly affected? It is about questioning and searching for answers.
This isn’t so much an autobiography as it is the story of a mind unfurling over time. Always seek to be learning something new. The faithful will gain an understanding in simple terms as to why their loved ones and friends can and do quit their faith and turn away from religious dogma. He went boldly forth and has set and admirable example.
Relifion that said, I really enjoyed this book; and though I feel like I’m not the target audience, I’m okay with that. As an atheist who is still finding her feet, I felt that this book had a part of me reazon it and Seth’s extremely entertaining manner of speech is exceedingly easy to read. That is all there is.

Nothing feconverted exciting happens. Seth shows great respect for all of the people in his life as he tells his story of the journey from religion to reason. Their son not only came out as an atheist, but now runs and maintains a well-known atheist community. Ask yourselves if you would be brave enough to do so in your own world?
The more he learned, the more he taught others, especially westerners who were flocking to Buddhism in droves in the late s. The only way bad things wouldn’t happen is if we were all puppets on God’s string. That being said, I felt this story fell kind of flat.
