Also, the vocabulary learned is kept to an absolute minimum, which at an early stage is probably beneficial. This was a nice little refresher. Each regular chapter is divided into six sections and includes extensive exercises and significant biblical passages for translation.
In Exercise 4 on pages of the workbook, the student is given an exercise to read twelve verses in Greek from First John 1: If you want to dig deeper as you learn, you can read his notes on the bottom if his pages.
Except for the first two chapters, each chapter is broken into six sections. Furthermore, Mounce has authored many works in the field of NT Greek studies and one finds that this supplements the quality of the book. It includes parsing and translations from the New Testament and Church Fathers. I learned Biblical Greek in college and loved it! The memorization in this grammar is also more minimal versus other grammars. There are no discussion topics on this book yet.
I would recommend this text book to anyone who is serious about learning New Testament Greek on your own. It is at times quite different from the English equivalent but the contrast actually helps one understand it more.
I am very thankful for this resource and feel like it was a great help to me in my studies. The method Mounce uses in teaching Greek maximizes on learning the principles of grammar in Koine Greek so that one doesn’t have to learn lots of paradigms.

One of my only gripes is that Mounce does not make good use of the on-going developments in d.mmounce and verbal aspect theory. But, what I am saying is that this Grammar was excellent to work through.

A useful introduction to Biblical Greek. Also, the “exegetical insights” at the beginning of each chapter really shows worknook a knowledge of Greek can dig out of New Testament and thus they inject motivation into the reader before beginning the chapter.
The textbook, in conjunction with the associated workbook and Mounce’s website of additional resources, provide a comprehensive system for the beginning student of the language. For example, a chapter on clauses has been added at the end of the book. The accompanying workbook is a must if you are doing this on your own rather than with a class.
