This is where the lost king comes in, only he could break the curse and reunite the people and that’s exactly what Finnikin will work to make happen. Every element and world is fully created, fascinating and infused with meaning way beyond this fantasy island. This time his eyes met hers and all those times Celie imagined he could be weak in spirit were swiftly crushed by the force of his stare.

I loved and cried over my favorite characters and the hardships and obstacles that they encountered. Be the first to discover new talent! I had some issues with Finnikin of the Rock the first book on my initial read, though I genuinely like it in retrospect, and Quintana of Charyn was excellent and it and FotE are really one novel tbh but FotE was my favorite – all the plot and romance and character development and near death experiences and ohhhh, my favorite OTP!

These books were just simply precious. OTP you do not like: Fans of Finnikin of the Rock and Froi of the Exiles will find deep satisfaction in this finale to the Lumatere Chronicles. Immediately earned a spot on my all time favorites list!

That still makes me want to bawl. Other Series You Might Like. Now to the plot. I’ll probably elaborate more later. To be frank I did not like Finnikin of the Rock when compared to the books that followed this trilogy. Lymatere it Forward Read it first. Titles in Order Sort by: An imposter king sits on the throne of Lumatere, ruling over people who physically can’t leave the lumatrre. There are no straight roads for these heroes, and I enjoyed my inner conflict of wishing them an easier path, yet relishing in their turmoil.

Soon he must unravel both the dark bonds of kinship and the mysteries of a half-mad princess in this barren and mysterious place.

Ugh yikes yikes yikes. I was on my toes the whole time urging Foi to go back, or shouting at Trevanion to go find him. The pinch chrlnicles red on her cheeks. I absolutely loved Froi. I will read more from her. Great characters with interconnected fates!! Kindle Editionpages.

The Lumatere Chronicles | Melina Marchetta

Froi and Quintana feel happy and safe and as if they belong. Angered by the carnage, Seranonna of the Forest Dwellers proclaims a dark curse, trapping the people of Lumatere inside. All that remains are a pair of bloody little handprints on the kingdom’s door, presumably those of Bathalzar, the lost prince.

I’ve read the reviews of other people and I know that a small minority shares my favoring of this book over the other two. The King is always keen for me to know of any strangeness that may cause interference with his stay. She pushed aside the chronicles and made room for herself to sit on the trestle, preferring its height.

It was a journey that kind of brings you closer to your own home, where you feel more connected lumatwre your people and your mother tongue, I just can’t explain it. Oh, and Isaboe makes friends her age. And on rereading FotR in light of what we learned about her past and what drove her at the end of that book, I ended up loving her there as well.
